The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 was set to release this fall with a nice refresh. However, GM is delaying the release of this revamped truck and will now only offer it as a Limited model for the 2022 model year. Take a look at what we know so far.
The 2022 Sierra Limited lineup will likely have the same features and trims as the 2021 Sierra 1500. GM will begin producing the 2022 Sierra Limited in September, which is originally when it was going to produce the refreshed Sierra.
You can still expect the Sierra to get a refresh, but it may not happen until late in the 2022 model year or even in the 2023 model year. The automaker hasn’t yet given a reason for the delay, but it’s likely due to the chip shortage and other issues manufacturers have had to face during the coronavirus pandemic.
The upcoming Sierra 1500 should gain a variety of exciting updates, which GM will announce in detail at a later date. As of now, the automaker has revealed that the truck will gain the innovative Super Cruise™ hands-free driving-assistance feature.
While we wait for the Sierra refresh, be sure to check out the other GMC trucks we have at Sunrise Buick GMC Covington Pike in Memphis, Tennessee, and take one out for a test drive.
The Encore already had just about everything a vehicle owner could want, which is why the Sunrise Buick GMC team was stunned when Buick decided to make the peppy crossover even better. For 2022, the Encore gets a power boost, as well as some additional changes.
The 2022 Buick Encore might not feature the brand-new exterior look available on the model in some countries, but here in the States, this model’s updates are still impressive. According to consumer research organization Kelly Blue Book (KBB), the latest edition of the Encore is set to receive a noteworthy engine upgrade.
While the 2022 Buick Encore will still come standard with a 1.4-liter turbo engine, the feisty powertrain will now deliver 177 lb-ft of torque and 155 horsepower. This is a significant increase from the outgoing model’s 148 lb-ft torque and 138 horsepower rating.
On top of the tweaks under the hood, the Encore did also receive a number of other updates for 2022. The compact crossover adds new map pockets for additional second-row storage as well as an electric heater to help warm you up on brisk Memphis days.

Both the 2021 GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500 deliver powerful, responsive rides, ample cargo and cabin space, and impressive towing capacities. But which one is better suited for your needs?
If you want to spend less money but still have a truck to handle your routine towing needs and support your outdoor activities, check out the 2021 GMC Canyon. If you can stretch your budget because you need more power, towing capability, and high-end features, then the 2021 GMC Sierra is a better match.
The full-size 2021 Sierra 1500 has a larger footprint than the 2021 Canyon. It is longer, wider, and taller and offers a choice of three cargo boxes, which outpace the size of the two cargo boxes available in the Canyon. The larger exterior dimensions of the Sierra 1500 also translate to more head- and legroom for your second-row passengers. But, the Canyon is easier to manage on narrow streets, in parking spaces, and over challenging terrains thanks to its smaller silhouette.
A bigger truck needs a bigger engine, and the 2021 Sierra delivers with several options, with horsepower ratings of 285, 310, 355, and 420. The Canyon offers you three engines that net horsepower ratings of 200, 181, and 308.
When properly equipped, the 2021 Sierra 1500 can tow a maximum weight of 11,800 pounds. The 2021 GMC Canyon tows a maximum 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.

If you’d like a small SUV for daily commutes and family adventures, the 2021 Buick Encore and Encore GX are two of the best options on the market. To decide which one is right for you, check out the following differences between the two models.
The 2021 Encore gives you the choice between two trims: Encore and Preferred. Front-wheel drive is standard on both, and all-wheel drive is available for the Preferred. Meanwhile, the trim levels of the 2021 Encore GX include Preferred, Select, and Essence. Front-wheel drive also comes standard on these models, but you can also upgrade to all-wheel drive for each.
No matter which trim of the Encore you choose, it features the 138-horsepower 1.4-liter Turbo engine. The Encore GX has two engine options: the 137-horsepower ECOTEC 1.2-liter Turbo and the 155-horsepower ECOTEC 1.3-liter Turbo.
The Encore is the smaller of the two SUVs, coming with 18.8 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and 48.4 cubic feet behind the first row. The Encore GX has 23.5 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up and 50.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. This, among other reasons, is why the Encore GX has a higher price tag.
If you want a more compact and affordable model, consider the Encore. If you want more space, power, and trim choices, select the Encore GX. We proudly offer each SUV at Sunrise Buick GMC at Covington Pike.
GMC is great at making sure its family of trucks is freshly updated each year with new technology and capabilities. The automaker has added a number of awesome new features to the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, and the truck lovers at Sunrise Buick GMC at Covington Pike have compiled a few of our favorites below.
More Affordable: It’s unusual for a vehicle to get a price decrease as time goes on, but GMC has improved the price of its diesel Sierra 1500. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel Duramax variant of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is now priced $1,500 less than last year.
Improved Hauling: In addition to having a more attractive price, the diesel edition of the Sierra 1500 is now able to tow up to 9,300 pounds of gear for your next weekend trip to the lake. The 2.7-liter Turbo powertrain also gains over a ton of hauling capacity.
New Trailer Camera Options: If you frequently travel with a camper or a boat, you’re going to love the five new camera views in the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. Plus, a Jack-Knife Alert lets you know when your trailer is too close to the corners of your truck bed, while the Cargo Bed Hitch Guidance view makes it easier than ever to hook up your camper.

Wintertime can take a toll on your vehicle, inside and out. While we usually turn our attention to maintenance issues like snow tires and fuel line freezes, it’s also helpful to keep your car’s cabin clean and tidy. Here are some handy tips for protecting your vehicle’s interior this winter.
Both cloth and leather seats need a little extra TLC when wintertime rolls around. Snow, salt, and grime can mess up your upholstery, so consider investing in seat covers. Leather seating should be conditioned to safeguard it against cracking in cold temperatures. And since you won’t be airing out the cabin with your windows rolled down, consider purchasing an air freshener to keep your car smelling nice.
Thanks to all of the sandy, salty slush on the ground, winter can do a number on your car’s carpeting. Protect your vehicle with some all-weather floor mats, particularly if your car’s own mats aren’t water-resistant. If you really want to go the extra mile, consider getting a second pair of shoes to change into before entering the cabin.
Storage and organization
When temperatures drop, it’s hard to stay outside and tidy up the cabin. But without those regular cleaning sessions, you may find your vehicle overrun with wrappers, napkins, and receipts. Corral the trash with an in-vehicle trash bin, so it’s easy to gather up garbage and keep your vehicle looking its best.
The GMC Hummer EV has many attractive qualities, from CrabWalk mode to an 18-camera-view UltraVision system to an estimated 350-mile electric range. This supertruck has one subtle feature that’s easy to overlook, however. Per The News Wheel, the automaker has hidden an Easter egg in the cabin.
To find the Easter egg, locate the 14 speakers of the Bose® audio system that automatically comes on the Hummer EV Edition 1. You’ll notice an intricate pattern etched on the speakers’ grille that’s actually a topographical map of the Sea of Tranquility, one of the moon’s lunar mares. This geographical feature is also the site where Apollo 11 landed back in 1969 when Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon.
It’s not surprising that GMC chose a moon-themed Easter egg for the Hummer EV’s interior. The model comes with a Lunar Horizon standard color scheme that blends white, gray, and black elements throughout the cabin. And the model’s exterior has a futuristic, space-like vibe, from its vertical grille bars and low-turret roof profile to its Infinity Roof with modular Sky Panels that opens the cabin to the starry sky at night.
The 2021 GMC Yukon Denali will offer a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine that actually costs less than the standard gas V8 engine. Opting for the Turbo-Diesel option will save you about $1,500. This unit earned a spot on Ward’s 2020 list of 10 Best Engines.
The V8 gas engine and Turbo-Diesel engine are both paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. GMC has not released horsepower and torque specs for this engine yet or EPA ratings. We also don’t know what the towing capacity of the Yukon Denali will be when equipped with this engine.
Based on the ratings in the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that shares this engine, though, we can assume it will get about 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.* On the other hand, the 6.2-liter V8 engine gets about 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, so the diesel option doesn’t only save you money up front but also over time on gas.**
The V8 engine option puts out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. In the Sierra 1500 Denali, the diesel engine puts out the same 460 lb-ft of torque, but its horsepower is just 277.
