Two GMC Trucks Named In Best Trucks For Towing List

Every year, U.S. News and World Report releases a list of the best available trucks for towing. This year, two GMC vehicles earned spots: the 2020 GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500.

The small GMC Canyon and the full-size GMC Sierra both offer impressive towing capacity for their segments. In fact, the Canyon tied with the Chevrolet Colorado for the highest towing capacity in its class, with a rating of 7,700 pounds when equipped with the available turbodiesel engine.

The 2020 Sierra 1500, meanwhile, can pull an impressive 12,100 pounds max with its 6.2-liter V8 option. Plus, you can get amazing luxury or off-roading prowess with the Canyon Denali or all Terrain trims, and max towing still comes out to 7,600 lbs.

GMC has also loaded these trucks with smart towing technologies and equipment. The Canyon offers a Tow/Haul mode that you can switch off for lighter, sportier performance when you’re not pulling cargo.

Then there’s the Max Trailering package on the Sierra, which adds an automatic locking rear differential and heavy-duty rear springs, giving the Sierra better control and a more comfortable ride when towing a heavy load.
